There is no question that memory loss is a family affair. Those living with it, as well as those who love and care for them, confront the continual need to adjust the way they relate and communicate. Finding ways to make this challenge more manageable is essential to improve the quality of life for all involved.
Throughout this 3 Week series we will explore the many facets of the Positive Approach to Care (PAC) with our Director of Memory Care and PAC Certified Trainer, Tonya Embly. The Positive Approach to Care philosophy was established by Teepa Snow, an educator and occupational therapist with 30+ years of experience working with people who have dementia. The Kensington Falls Church utilizes PAC training and education throughout our building as a practical and compassionate approach to care. Tonya will dive into a few different aspects of PAC, how we use it and how you can implement these practices in your own interactions with your loved one.
3 Week Schedule:
April 16: “Finding Confidence in Caring For Your Loved One with Dementia”
May 14: “How to Have Enjoyable Conversations With Your Loved One Experiencing Dementia”
June 18: “Overcoming the Physical Challenges of Caring for Somebody Living with Dementia”
Tonya Embly, Director of Memory Care
